Victor Celebrates the Arts
at the

12th Annual En Plein Air Artist Competition Art Show & Sale

September 3 - 5, 2011

Come to historic Victor, Colorado, on the sunny side of Pikes Peak as 'plein air' artists from around the country gather to paint on location. The paintings done during this annual event capture the essence of 1890s architecture, the old mining buildings along the hiking trails, and the panoramic views of Pikes Peak and the Sangre de Cristo mountains.

This is an event the whole family can enjoy, so come on up for a breath of fresh air and fine art.

Schedule of Events:

August 26 - September 2: Artists paint in Victor, 1890s gold mining sites and mountain scenery.
September 2: Patron Pre-Show Art Sale by invitation (Contact 719-689-5836).
September 3 - 5:  Open Art Show and Sale at the Victor Elks Lodge (9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on September 3-4, 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on September 5).
September 4:  Brush Rush Competition (9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon, artists paint at in-town site)
September 5:  Quick Draw (9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon, artists paint models and historic props at Wallace Park)

Visitors are invited to watch the artists paint the week before the art show and at scheduled events on September 4th & 5th.

The "en plein air" paintings produced during this event reflect Colorado's authentic mining history and our beautiful mountain scenery.  All paintings in the show are framed and available for purchase.

The Kids Celebrate the Arts Program encourages art education in Victor, Cripple Creek and the surrounding area.  Kids Celebrate the Arts invites kids up to 17 years of age to free "en plein air" art instruction during the month of August at the Victor Community Center.  Professional artists will teach classes and art supplies will be provided.  Kids are encouraged to participate and then have their creations displayed in a KCTA Art Show at the Victor Elks Lodge on Friday, September 3 - Monday, September 6.  Cash prizes will be awarded.

For more information on the Kids Celebrate the Arts Program, please contact Nancy McDonald at (719) 689-0401.
